YouTube Review: Inflatable Latex Ball

October 6, 2012 in BDSM, Gear, Inmate: Snoopy, Rubber, Rubber Videos, Videos, Videos: Rubber

1222gjg on YouTube does a nice review of an inflatable latex ball that he bought from “Queen Latex” on eBay.

In one of my previous posts, “The Ultima… An Inflatable Rubber Sleepsack“, i reviewed an inflatable i used to own, and can only say that if you’ve never tried an inflatable latex device before, it’s definitely worth the experience… at your earliest possible convenience!!! ;)

An interesting note to look out for near the end of the video is a repair made to the rubber on the inside near the zipper. As anyone who’s owned latex for any length of time can tell you, rubber isn’t as durable as leather or other materials and can easily be punctured or torn, so experience with latex repairs is definitely an asset.

Safety Warning: Personally i’d never recommend using an inflatable latex device that cover’s the head where you’re relying on a remote control device to inflate & deflate it, only because there is always the possibility that something can go wrong with the remote and you can become trapped inside. In a worse case scenario, you can suffocate and die! When using any head covering all care should be taken to minimize any risk to your life.

In Review: Fury-Fantasy

December 2, 2011 in Asylum Inmates, BDSM, Furry, Gear, Inmate: Snoopy, Leather

i came across this site a while ago and recently found it again in my bookmarks, and i’m still blown away by the detail and execution of their gear.

Fury-Fantasyhttp://www.fury-fantasy.com/, is a German based site founded in 2004 and specializing in masks, costumes, and accessories made from heavy worked leather for those into equine, pup, or animal role-play. Their gear spans the range from erotic to esoteric to extreme, and although i haven’t personally dealt with them or own any of their gear, it appears to be finely thought out and executed. Their current catalogue seems to be much more heavily stocked with gear to fully equip your human-horse for dressage play, including masks, harnesses, hoof-boots, tails, and trainers, but keep looking because they’ve also got a few nice pieces of bondage gear too. If your pup or horse is a particularly noisy animal, check out their integrated butterfly gags. Trying to train your pet to remain down on all-fours where they belong, their doggy & horsey trainers look comfortable and very effective!

Prices range from… ermwell… it would appear that their price list page is “under construction“, which is rather unfortunate, but based on my own experience in manufacturing leather gear, i would expect these works of art to not be cheap.

Working out of their new workshop since the beginning of 2011, i hope to see some exciting new designs from Fury-Fantasy and just might place an order or two myself in the future. :)

Stores – What’s Good and What’s Bad

October 22, 2011 in Inmate: The Irate Fox

Forgive me dear readers for I have been remiss!  That and I don’t generally have the budget to be buying new gear from a different store every week…

To that end this week’s feature will be a short piece on what I find good and bad about a store and how you, as a kinky shop keeper, can stay on the good side of your ever so reasonable clients.

It All Starts with The Storefront

Whether you’re running a web only store or a small storefront on a side-street it’s important to have a storefront that’s descriptive and welcoming to the potential buyer.  Your store front should scream permanence and integrity, something that’s sleek enough to say “Yes I’m a professional” and not so chintzy that it looks like you might move out any second.  Gear is definitely something that can’t be treated like a corner variety store; after all your customers may be spending a few hundred dollars on their first purchase and as store that looks shifty will find a hard go of things getting started.

It Continues with Customer Service

Ideally contact with you should be easy.  Most of your shopping world will speak English to some degree so a command of the language is important but the more languages you can tuck under your belt, either by learning them yourself or having an associate that can do translation.  Equally important, too, is keeping in regular contact with your customers.  I know it might seem like a pain, between cutting latex, leather and spandex, punching in rivets or epoxying zippers but checking your email on a regular basis, ideally several times a day, is important; customers who have questions, even the most inane ones, can still be buyers if they feel they’ll be able to get timely responses from you.

It Ends with The Gear

Make sure your products are ones you can stand behind; don’t sell things that you know are cheap or flimsy.  You’ll find that customers will comes back to you time and time again if your products are of the best quality you can get.  If something’s not working on a regular basis stop carrying it until the problem with the item is fixed.  Yes, sometimes you’ll have a signature product go out of production but it’s better to have your signature product be one people keep buying rather than one they complain about.  To this end it’s often best if you can make every piece yourself, but if you are a reseller at the very least TEST every piece you sell; make sure you know it, it’s use and it’s quality inside and out before you sell it.

It is also, believe it or not, very important to know your competition.  In fact, try and know them as well as you know yourself.  If you know their strengths and weaknesses you can make your gear look nice, be stronger and be more durable than any competition.  It’s also worth noting that, if you don’t offer warranty on items (for any number of reasons) offering a reasonably priced repair option is the next best thing to aid in the durability problem because it will allow you to make design changes in your gear based on how it’s failed in the wild.

The Damage and The Price

You’ll notice that price hasn’t come into this; that’s because it doesn’t NEED to come into it.  Being someone who’s had time where he’s wanted a lot more gear than his budget can afford I’ve been tempted to look to less than reputable sources to get my gear but I’ve seen time and again that the cheaper companies will often produce latex or leather that’s not even worth buying; if you produce good gear and sell it at a price you can live with you won’t need to compete with the “knockoff” competitors.  Remember; people who buy the absolute cheapest thing possible were never going to buy your merchandise in the first place, don’t bow to them and make your business and your other customers suffer.

I hope this has been somewhat informative for everyone!

Store Review – STR

October 3, 2011 in Inmate: The Irate Fox

Not the Best Picture - Mitts and Socks Not STR

Not the Best Picture - Mitts and Socks Not STR

The Basics

Skin Tight Rubber is a shop specializing almost entirely in suits with a few forays into harnesses, straight-jackets and pup gear; most notably their paws. This reviewer had taken their suits as a first step and was not disappointed. STR, as they are most commonly known, definitely live up to their name. Their suits are built to a very specific sizing guide and end up being very snug and form fitting; it is definitely a sizing guide to be followed exactly for best results. Their shoulder zips suits, for which they are best known, do not disappoint but the reviewer bought a back-zip because, well, he’s always bought them.

Shopping Experience

Ordering from STR is very straight forward; the site is cleanly laid out, the cart and checkout are easy to understand and complete and the sizing guides are no-nonsense and very complete. If there are any issues with sizing you can always email them questions and they’re very quick to respond; always within twenty-four hours.

Be aware that each suit is made to order so there will be some lead-time, especially if they’re in a busy season before major events or if the currency markets happen to be dragging their native currency, the British Pound, down. Shipping is done by Royal Mail and is as prompt as can be expected.

Customer service has been well above par, repairs, which unfortunately were necessary, were carried out with great haste and the suits have stood up to moderate usage quite well. The construction is also very good though it is worth noting that the suits will absorb silicone oil very effectively so one should be aware that carrying out repairs an area or the entire suit will have to be soaked in detergent and warm water to leach the silicone oil out, first. This also applies if you do send an item back, though obviously most makers prefer garments be thoroughly cleaned.

Further Notes

The reviewer feels that the limited focus of the store; mostly tailored items, is a great asset. They specialize and do their work very well for a very reasonable price. If you’re looking for a tight catsuit and a few of the other items available on the store look no further, this may be precisely the place you want to buy from.
